Ross Alan Design is committed to making rossalandesign.com accessible to every visitor, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web. Accessibility is part of how we do good work — not an afterthought.
The standard we work toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are the internationally recognized standards for making web content usable by people with a wide range of visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive needs.
What we do
- Test the site with keyboard-only navigation and common screen readers.
- Write meaningful alt text for product photography and lifestyle imagery.
- Maintain color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA on body text and interface elements.
- Use semantic HTML (proper headings, lists, and landmarks) so assistive technologies can navigate the page structure.
- Design forms with visible labels, clear error messaging, and generous tap targets.
- Review new pages, sections, and features for accessibility before they go live.
Where we know we still have work to do
We build and update this site continuously, and some parts don't yet meet the bar we've set for ourselves. Known gaps we're actively working on:
- A small number of legacy product photographs are missing descriptive alt text — we're rewriting these as we re-photograph our catalog.
- Some third-party embedded content (chat widget, video players) doesn't fully match our accessibility standards. We're evaluating alternatives.
- PDF documents older than 2026 may not be fully screen-reader compatible. If you need one in an accessible format, please contact us.
Need something in a different format?
If any content on our site is difficult to use, or if you'd like product information — dimensions, finishes, lead times — read to you or sent in a different format, we're happy to help. Reach us at hello@rossalandesign.com or by phone during business hours.
Tell us how we're doing
If you run into an accessibility issue on this site, please let us know. Include:
- The page you were on (URL)
- What you were trying to do
- The assistive technology, browser, and device you were using (if known)
Send it to hello@rossalandesign.com. We read every message and typically respond within two business days.
